The selected device was the focus group, which can be understood as a qualitative research technique that, through the production of a socialized conversation, attempts to capture and analyze the symbolic representations and ideological discourses that emerge in group communication(20).

Broadly speaking, the topics discussed in the discussion groups were: knowledge and assessment of the measures of suspension of medical treatment, suspension of food, assisted suicide, active euthanasia and passive euthanasia, based on practical cases that served as triggers for discussion; general ideas and feelings about death; ideas and feelings aroused by ideas related to their own death, in terms of its ideal temporality, conditions in which it should occur and consequences for close people, and experiences with death and care of close people in a context of terminal illness.

Worldwide, housing is one of the most important causes for social conflict in any city; however, in the case of Chile and the pobladores movement, conflicts over housing have become a very important social and political issue. The aim of this work is to first carry out an update of the geography of the housing conflict in Santiago, Chile, and secondly to analyze how the repertoire of protest and narratives of the pobladores movement have innovated and evolved considerably since its high point during the decade of 1960 to 1973 and increasing its complexity, as we shall see in a case of conflict: The Ukamau Social Housing Project in the area of Maestranza de San Eugenio, Santiago de Chile.

The first objective is approached using as a basis the previous work of Corporación SUR in the elaboration of a map of the territorial conflicts that occurred in Santiago de Chile between 2006 and 2011 (SUR, 2011). In addition, it is complemented with news of conflicts from the newspaper El Mercurio, mainly, and Radio Universidad de Chile to a lesser extent, as well as through a digital project to compile accounts of territorial conflicts (Francés, 2016). We will deploy the second objective from the analysis of the conflict originated from a real estate project proposed to be developed on land of the Maestranza de San Eugenio, led by one of the most active movements of settlers in the second decade of the century in Santiago: Ukamau. In this way, we intend to qualify the thesis of the demobilization of settlers and show the enormous social and political complexity of the current housing conflicts.

At the end of the 19th century, a symbolist and decadentist trend had become fashionable, replacing the previous realism and naturalism. This new trend was characterized, among other aspects, by the primacy of the idea and sensation over reality and by the consideration of art, not as a practice, but as a way of life, an ethic advocated by the artist, who becomes a priest of art.[8] The same theme of L'alegria que passa, i.e., L'alegria que passa, is the subject of the work of the artist.

The same theme of L'alegria que passa, that is, the eternal conflict between the artist and society, poetry and prose, and spiritualism and materialism, will be treated in El jardí abandonat (1900).[21] It is a tender love story between the artist and the society, between poetry and prose, and between spiritualism and materialism.

It is a tender love story between a young painter, Jacinto, who is captivated by the light of a blue courtyard and decides to paint it, and Agna-Rosa, a young girl who lives in one of the houses overlooking the courtyard. The girl is sick with tuberculosis, dying, but Jacinto cannot help falling in love with her. The young girl and her mother receive the interested help of an Indian relative who wants to keep the house when Agna-Rosa dies, but the painter will throw him out, when he realizes his intentions. For his part, the doctor's character acts as Jacinto's counterpoint, warning him of the danger of falling in love with the young woman, in the first act, and in the second when he lashes out against the "artist's vagueness" that prevents the painter from fully living the reality.[31]
